Frequently asked questions
Let me clear up some of your need to know questions before you get started.
About hiring a freelancer
-
Hiring a freelance social media manager allows you to scale services by campaign, season, or budget. You also gain access to current skills in trends, algorithms, ads, and formats, and see faster content production, engagement, and campaign updates.
Freelancers create custom plans for content, tone, and posting rhythm, provide clear ROI through KPI tracking and reports, and offer connections to creators, designers, and analytics tools.
-
While in house hires are incredibly aware of your business needs, they typically cost 30% more than when you hire a freelancer.
That’s because an in house hire requires you (the business) to cover costs of employer national insurance, workplace pension contributions, sick pay, statutory maternity/paternity leave, paid time off and more.
Additionally, a freelancer typically covers the cost of their own hardware and software, which you would otherwise be subject to.
-
A freelance social media manager is one professional offering personalised, flexible support (usually in content, community management and strategy) for a few clients. They’re cost effective, responsive and adaptable but may have limited capacity and narrower skills.
An agency provides team based expertise in strategy, design, advertising and analytics, scalable resources, and formal reporting/processes. Offering robust systems and continuity at higher cost and with less direct personal contact.
-
A fractional head of social media provides senior level strategy and leadership on a part time or contract basis, developing and overseeing social strategy, content direction, community management, performance analysis and team coordination to grow brand presence and achieve business goals without the cost of a full time hire.
Your business and social media
-
Over 75% of consumers use social media as a part of their buying journey. Whether that’s for discovery or for research, an active and ongoing presence as a business on social media can turn a maybe into a sale.
-
You don’t need to be on all of them, but you should be where your target audience is.
This means you should be doing a full analysis on who your target audience is, what they enjoy, and where they spend most of their time online. If you’re just setting up or if you’re unsure about your current social media setup, I’ll be happy to help with a Bespoke Social Media Strategy.
-
Social media is a great way to familiarise your target audience with your business by showing up on their feeds, appearing when they’re searching for a solution, and informing them of the latest information.
This familiarity builds trust and ensures that your target audience knows who you are and that they can trust you.

-
Your social media isn’t going to change overnight.
On average, it takes 3-6 months to start seeing a change in the way your social media platforms perform. During the first 3 months, I focus on building the foundations (consistency, establishing content pillars etc). From there I typically review and amend the strategy to make sure your socials are working to help you reach your goals.
-
Not exactly…
My focus is primarily on TikTok, Instagram, X (Twitter), Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, and some focus on Facebook.
These are the most frequented social media platforms (asides from Reddit) where businesses typically have the most influence and are able to build connection.
-
While I may occasionally support/consult on social media campaigns with paid ads (via Meta Business Suite), I am not a paid social expert so this is not a service I provide.
-
No.
All of the articles I provide are 100% written by human. I may use AI in the research and planning processes, but all information is cross checked before use, so every article is articulate and correct.
-
Of course you can!
If you can’t currently afford social media management services, I have other resources that can help you build the foundations of social media success. Take a look through my blog for the basics.
